The 40 acre Guatemala City dump as seen from the city cemetary. 1/3 of the country’s trash ends up here. Roughly 4,500 people scavenge in the dump to make their living. The experience of the stench of the refuse, the vultures, and the human scavengers is difficult to convey with words. We visited a number of NGO’s committed to building up the surrounding communities through education, physical, and spiritual needs.
