A cargo ship transits the Miraflores Locks, one of three original locks finished in 1914 that form the 48-mile Panama Canal which links the Pacific and Atlantic oceans. Panama completed new wider locks in 2016. A single large ship might pay a transit toll upwards of $700,000. #trekarooing #visitpanama #panamacanal #mirafloreslocks #takeyourkidseverywhere #familytrip #familytravel #civilengineering
